Hi. My name is Lindsey and I am the artist here at Elle Jay Arts. I started out drawing over 25 years ago, fuelled by a passion for wildlife. My first drawings were in pencil, featuring almost exclusively birds or dinosaurs until I branched out and discovered a love of drawing realistic, furry creatures. It wasn't long until I moved into colour, originally working in coloured pencil before learning the complex art of watercolour.

I have always been fascinated by wildlife, following such experts as Attenborough throughout my younger years and obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Applied Zoology. Long term research projects into animal behaviour gave me plenty of opportunity to bring my love of art and my passion for wildlife together. Now I get to bring these together to provide portraits of treasured pets.

Over the years I have experimented with a variety of art styles, though my love of pencil and watercolour have always shone through and I settled into a realism style. Recently, I discovered pastel pencils. Though I had tried pastels before, I could not create the level of detail my realistic style calls for until I tried pastel pencils. Now I enjoy working in a mixture of soft pastels and pencils for the fine detail that I love to put into my work.
